  5. Wa alaykum Assalaam,

    1. Do you mean marja'?

    The answer is here: http://meeraath.infofiend.org/?page_id=46

    2. I hope you mean Imam Muhammad Saeed Ramadan al-Bouti, may Allah have mercy on him. I don't know the answer to that question.

    3. I don't know the answer to that question.

    4. As far as I know, the Imam had a working knowledge of English. However, I don't think there is any recording of him speaking or lecturing in English.

    And Allah knows best.

  7. You have to go to that site (meeraath.infofiend.org) and use the tab at the top entitled 'Where do we get our authority from?' Have a look at 'Marja People of Today' and 'Previous Marja People'.

Allah knows best about people's ranks, but Imam al-Bouti is without doubt a top authority, as attested to by Imam Isma`il ibn Badran ad-Dumi:

  8. As salamu alaikum what's the possibility IMAM MAHDI would not be from a Arabic tongue at all??

  9. Wa alaykum Assalaam,

There's no possibility whatsoever. He will be an Arab (from the lineage of both his parents) and he will be from Ahl al-Bayt.

    Wassalaam,

    Mahdi

  10. Assalamu'alaikum Sheikh Mahdi Lock,

I am a born muslim lady and I learn Islam traditionally through my native language, Malay, and in the more recent years, in English.

With a national English language school background, English works on Islam has greatly helped me to understand Islam to a more deeper and personal level, as I am more familiar with the English language, and relate better than my original mother tongue.

Inspired by your work as a translator, I am keen on having a deep understanding of the Arabic language, and in the future, I intend to become an Arabic/English translator to classical Islamic texts, including those in Jawi/Malay. I would like to seek your advice, in your opinion, which institutes of learning would be conducive to learning Arabic language to a level of mastery?

    Thank you in advance, Sheikh.
    Jazakallah kheiral Jaza'.

Wa alaykum Assalaam wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh,

I am running (and developing) an Arabic language programme for Arkview, an online school based in the US: https://myarkview.org/p/arabic-studies

The subscription includes access to all levels (Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced) as well as all the live classes and recordings. There are also placement tests to help you determine your level.

In the Advanced class, we are reading a commentary on the Ajurumiyyah and have more in-depth texts lined up.

Soon, insha'Allah, our students will be able to do an internationally recognized proficiency test in Arabic.

And with Allah alone is every success.
    Please join us.
